2025 Annual Parish Meeting Minutes
REEPHAM PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of Annual Parish Meeting
Reepham Methodist Church on Wednesday 14th May 2025 at 7.15pm
Present: Cllr D Perkins, who presided, 4 Parish Councillors, 2 District Councillors and 1 County Councillor. Also present were 11 parishioners.
Meeting began at 7.15pm
All were welcomed.
1. Apologies: Councillors A Brammer and D Davies.
2. Minutes of the meeting held on 15th May 2024:
The Chairman read out the draft minutes; and noted that any reports provided for that meeting were on file. At the proposal of Cllr C Wilson, seconded by Cllr B Wharton, the minutes were approved as a true record and duly signed.
3. Matters arising from those minutes: None.
4. Chairman’s report: The Chairman read out his report, a copy of which is on file.
5. Reports from District Councillors and County Councillor:
District Councillor M Palmer provided an insight into the current situation following the Mayoral Elections and how they will influence the constitutions of both County and District Councils in the future. This is, at present, a very fluid situation and is strongly reliant upon the amounts of overriding Government control.
Our incoming County Councillor T Bridgwood added further comments; but could do little more than confirm the void awaiting the overriding decision from Central Government. He also confirmed that he had undertaken his initial reading of his requirements but with little to add at this early stage apart from a suggestion that we should not expect our footpaths to be resurfaced: they are not on the list for the coming year: but that input into the system pointing out the need and lack of action might bear fruit.
6. Matters raised by members of the public:
a. A parishioner raised the question from our last meeting regarding the removal/replacement of the cherry tree on The Green. News of this had raised much discussion amongst the community and a petition was handed to the Meeting requesting that the action be revisited and/or rescinded.
b. 9 parishioners raised the question of the recent planning application relating to the demolition of old farm buildings within the Conservation Area and their replacement by the build of 2 two-storey houses and the effects on the residents’ living standards. The need for additional parking for cars and the traffic requirements for the entry and egress of those and the existing 3 buildings into the congestion surrounding the school and the limited vision available was also discussed.
Meeting ended at 7.52 pm.
Cllr B Wharton
