Reepham Speed Indication Devices Statistical Analysis
Did you know that as well as displaying vehicle speeds to approaching traffic to remind drivers to slow down, the Speed Indication Devices (SIDs) located on Kennel Lane and Fiskerton Road also record how many vehicles go past in both directions and what their speeds are?
Since installation the two SIDs located on Kennel Lane and Fiskerton Road have captured the following information:
Kennel Lane
The device on Kennel Lane has recorded an average of 1, 244 incoming vehicles a day and 1, 511 outgoing vehicles a day. The average incoming speed recorded since installation is 30.8 mph, so just a shade over the 30 mph limit, with a top speed recorded of 81 mph. Outgoing the average speed recorded is slightly higher at 34.8 mph with a top speed recorded of 97 mph.
Fiskerton Road
The device on Fiskerton Lane has recorded an average of 608 incoming vehicles a day and 620 outgoing vehicles a day. The average incoming speed recorded since installation is 32.02 mph, with a top speed recorded of 98 mph, so whilst higher than the Kennel Lane again it is only a little above the 30 mph limit. Outgoing the average speed recorded is higher at 36.7 mph with a top speed recorded of 110 mph.
Overall these statistics show that the vast majority of drivers are abiding with the speed limit as they approach the 30 mph limits to the village which is reassuring. However, in line with broader national statistics drivers tend to begin to accelerate early as they leave the village hence the roughly 10% increase in the average speed recorded of outgoing vehicles. Many thanks to the overwhelming majority of drivers for their consideration when entering our wonderful village - the Parish Council will continue to collect the data and provide regular updates.
